BoxCast RSS Feeds for Third Party Applications (Podcasting, Roku Direct Publisher, etc)

BoxCast provides you with an RSS feed link on your website, a 3rd party application, or publish it to a podcast catalog such as Apple iTunes or Google Play. RSS feeds automatically convert broadcasts to ideal file formats for podcast services to extend the reach of your live video and audio content to a broadened audience of viewers and listeners. MRSS feeds can be used to build custom Roku and Amazon Fire TV channels using tools such as Roku Direct Publisher and Amazon Creator.

In this article, we will show you how to create a podcast channel inside the BoxCast dashboard and we will show you where to find your MRSS feed for third party applications like Roku Direct Publisher and Amazon Fire TV channel via Amazon Creator.

Configuring Your Podcast Channel

Podcasting is enabled on a per-channel basis. To enable a channel for podcasting, follow these steps below.

1. Click on Channels and select an already existing channel or create a new channel. 

2. Click on edit channel. 

3. Select the Podcasting option at the top of the screen and fill out the information below. Please make sure you click on "Enable Audio Podcasts" or "Enable Video Podcasts" as well. 

4. Stay on that channels page and select "Generate Embed Code."

5. Click on "Audio Podcast" or "Video Podcast" in the select type area to generate your podcast RSS feed link. 

6. Before you submit your Podcast feed to a store, we recommend you validate that link with one of these sites below. 

• http://validator.w3.org/feed/
• https://castfeedvalidator.com/
• https://podba.se/validate/ (Note: this site reports a couple of false warnings…)
• https://podcastsconnect.apple.com

7. After you do that, follow the steps below for submitting your feed to iTunes, Google Play, and other Podcasting platforms. 

Before you submit your podcast to any podcast stores, make sure you have done the following in step 3. 

• Upload compliant, podcast-specific artwork by selecting a square, 1400x1400—3000x3000, 72dpi RGB JPEG or PNG for a Preview Image on the Podcast tab of your channel configuration.
• Choose a unique podcast program title for your Channel Name (check podcast stores to make sure your program title is unique).
• Choose a podcast category from the Category field on the Podcast tab of your BoxCast channel configuration
• Configure a valid owner contact using the Owner Name and Owner Email fields on the Podcast tab of your BoxCast channel configuration
• Add at least one broadcast with a recording to the podcast-enabled channel.

iTunes

In order to submit your podcast to iTunes, you first need an active Apple ID.

1. Sign in to iTunes Podcasts Connect.
2. Click the + button at the top left of the iTunes Connect dashboard.
3. Enter your RSS feed into the provided text box and then click the “Validate” button.
4. A Feed Preview will load if you do not have any validation errors. Please take a moment and review your podcast artwork, description, general information (e.g. description, category, etc), and episodes. Please see the Validation Errors section if you have any problems validating your podcast feed.
5. If everything within the Feed Preview is correct, click the “Submit” button.

Google Play

1. Go to the Google Play Music Podcast Portal
2. Click the ‘Publish’ button and then the ‘Add a Podcast’ button
3. Paste your RSS feed URL into the field provided
4. Click ‘Submit RSS Feed’
5. You’ll be asked to confirm that you own the podcast. Google will send an email to the address in your RSS feed. Open that email and verify that you’re the owner by providing the verification code and clicking the ‘Verify Ownership’ button.
6. Finally, click the ‘Publish Podcast’ button and your podcast will be submitted for review.

Stitcher

1. Create a Content Provider profile on Stitcher.
2. Once you’re logged in to your new account, click the “Add Show” button.
3. Add your RSS feed and show details and submit for review.

TuneIn

Fill out the Contact Us form on the TuneIn website.

How to Find your MRSS Feed for Roku Direct Publisher and Amazon Fire TV channel via Amazon Creator and other Third Party Applications

1. Click on Embed and Other Integrations in the BoxCast Dashboard. 

2. Select RSS or MRSS Feed and filter it by all your public broadcasts, by channel, or by source. Once you select your Feed Type, you will be presented with your MRSS link. 

3. Publish that link in your Third Party Application and follow the instructions on their platform from there. 

Note: Using the MRSS feed for Roku will only post ARCHIVED content.
