Before we get started, here is a quick overview of the settings you can change.
-
Video Bitrate: The bitrate at which video data will be encoded and transmitted. By default, the BoxCaster will automatically detect your available bandwidth and make an intelligent selection. The video bitrate can be changed at any time during the broadcast if you are experiencing network issues that are affecting video quality. Note that hardcoding a video bitrate will only establish a ceiling for your video bitrates (i.e. the stream will not exceed that bitrate) but the box will still regulate bitrates up and down throughout the course of your broadcast in response to network conditions.
-
Audio Bitrate: The bitrate at which audio data will be encoded and transmitted. By default, the BoxCaster will automatically detect your available bandwidth and make an intelligent selection. Audio bitrates can be changed at any time during the broadcast (128k is best for Audio).
-
Audio Source: The source the BoxCaster should use for audio data. You can choose a specific source in the event you are using a separate line from your video. For example, you can bring your video in via HDMI and your audio from a mixer via RCA (red/white) and simply select Analog Only so that the box will ONLY pull audio from the RCA jacks.
-
Video Resolution: The maximum resolution at which the video data should be encoded. By default, the BoxCaster will use the largest size available based on the resolution of the detected video input.
- DSCP Value: DSCP, which stands for Differentiated Services Code Point, is a means of marking network communications in order to prioritize some types of traffic over others. By default, the BoxCaster will not use any special DSCP marking. Speak to your network administrator before changing this value. "Default" is the recommended setting.
*NOTE: It is recommended that ALL settings (with the exception of Audio Source) be left at the Default settings. The BoxCaster will negotiate with your network and your camera to provide optimal results for your stream.
Below are the following steps you will need to follow to make these changes to your BoxCaster HDSD2 settings.
1. Click on the Sources tab on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
