The BoxCaster is capable of receiving NTSC and PAL inputs via the composite port, and the following HD video standards via the HDMI port:
-
480p 29.97/30/59.94/60
- 525p 60
-
576p 25/50
-
720p 25/29.97/30/50/59.94/60
-
1080i 50/59.94/60
- 1080p 25/29.97/30/50/59.94/60
Any analog audio is supported; inputs are line-level. Uncompressed (L-PCM) HDMI audio is also supported at 44.1 or 48 kHz.
Note: The BoxCaster has to encode for a specific standard so switching between standards mid-stream (e.g. changing resolutions or switching from HDMI to RCA) will cause video failure.
Common Questions
Does the BoxCaster require me to input encoding settings?
The BoxCaster uses sensible default settings and performs all the encoding itself. No extra hardware is needed to stream live video through BoxCast. Should you wish to exercise a bit more control over the settings though, you can find those settings in the 'Advanced Configuration' section of your account.
